Choices

We choose our joys and sorrows long before we experience them. – Khalil Gibran

The absolute irony of options, you can’t live with them or without them! Well...how many times do we recollect ourselves saying...”What other option do I have?"...or " I wish I didn’t have so many options...can’t make up my mind!"... Yeah...that’s the irony of options...too less and it feels like they don’t exist...too many and it makes u wonder why they exist!!...

Well...even more difficult is when you face both these situations together....although on the face of it, it feels like life has presented you with many options to choose from....yet in reality, these options may not really exist...coz there are too many "Buts" attached to each option in life....nothing comes without a cost....does it!? I guess if you think about it, all boils down to the choice between good and evil, many ethical theorists say that good deeds can be done through good and evil. How is that, suppose to make our choices easy??
Life is like a road. There are long and short roads; smooth and rocky roads; crooked and straight paths. In our life many roads would come our way as we journey through life. There are roads that lead to a life of single blessedness, marriage, and religious vocation. There are also roads that lead to fame and fortune on one hand, or isolation and poverty on the other. There are roads to happiness as there are roads to sadness, roads towards victory and jubilation, and roads leading to defeat and disappointment.

Just like any road, there are corners, detours, and crossroads in life. Perhaps the most perplexing road that you would encounter is a crossroad. With four roads to choose from and with limited knowledge on where they would go, which road will you take? What is the guarantee that we would choose the right one along the way? Would you take any road, or just stay where you are: in front of a crossroad?

To chose between a career which satisfies you or which has more money, to choose to pursue relationships and what not. The truth is, there is no right or wrong way to make a decision, and despite your attempt to predict the outcome, there are so many variables in life that it is nearly impossible to know where your path will take you. The only thing you can do is make the best decision you know how to make at the time that you make it. It sounds simple, but making a decision can be a difficult process, especially if you are dealing with a situation that is very emotional. So what can make this period of time easier? Time and patience. Making tough decisions is not always easy. The correct path that we should take is not always clearly laid out before us, and i don't think should be that way, where is the fun in that. Sometimes we need to take a moment to stop, pause, and reflect on something before we can move forward, and there is nothing wrong with that, (grab a bite). There is an end in sight, and if you understand that you are not alone with this decision, that millions of people have been faced with difficult decisions throughout their lives, you may realize that you have the support you need to move forward or not, doesn't mean you put your life on hold. Patience is probably the most difficult part of this process, but it is the key to making a good decision that is healthy and well thought out. Don’t give up, and you will find the strength within yourself to make a decision that you will be happy with for the rest of your life.
